As part of the Montessori Botany activities, students of the Elementary Montessori class and the Montessori Adults planned a botany exploration during the Lalbagh Flower Show on 23rd January 2018. The Flower shows are organized every year in January and August on the occasion of the Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations respectively. This was a perfect opportunity for the students to learn about the various flowering species.
The garden is an institution of botanical and environmental importance, a treasure house of our state and nation, an important lung space of Bangalore.

The Glass House at Lalbagh
There is a stunning resemblance between Bangalore in India and London in England, as many structures in Bangalore city have been modeled upon the structures in London.
The foremost of these structures is “The Glass House of Lalbagh” constructed in the year 1890 on the model of Crystal Palace of London. In the year 1936 Crystal Palace accidentally caught fire and was burnt down. Thus, the glory of the great structure ‘CRYSTAL PALACE’ ended.
Only its model remained with ‘The Glass House’ in Lalbagh, Bangalore. Hence, it may not be wrong to call the Glass House of Lalbagh as the Crystal Palace of India.
